Mini Cine ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.minicine.nz, how we use it, and your rights under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

When you send us an enquiry. If you contact us through our enquiry form, we collect the details you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message.

When you visit the website. Our website host, Squarespace, automatically collects some information when you visit, including your IP address, browser, network and device information, the pages you view on this website, and the page you came from.

When you join our Founders List. If you sign up to our Founders List, we collect your name, email address and favourite movie. We use these to send you updates about Mini Cine screenings, events and offers. By signing up, you agree to receive these emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time by emailing hello@minicine.nz

Website analytics. We use Squarespace Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This collects information about your browser, network and device, the pages you visited before arriving here, your IP address, and how you use the site (such as pages visited, clicks, scrolling, searches and timestamps). We use this to learn about site traffic and activity, not to identify you personally.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry and communicate with you

  • To prepare and send quotes, invoices and receipts, and to arrange and receive payment (this is handled manually outside the website, and we don't collect payment details through the site)

  • To keep business records as required by law, such as for tax purposes

  • To run, secure and improve the website

We won't use your personal information for unrelated purposes, and we won't sell it.

Who we share it with

We share information only where needed to run our business:

  • Squarespace, our website hosting provider, which processes enquiry form submissions and website visitor data so it can provide website services to us. You can read their privacy policy at https://www.squarespace.com/privacy.

  • Google, which stores Founders List sign-ups, enquiry notifications, and sends our emails.

  • Humanitix, our ticketing provider, which collects details from people who buy tickets to our public screenings. If you buy a ticket through Humanitix, we only send you marketing emails if you chose to hear from us when you booked. See their privacy policy at humanitix.com

  • Our accountant or other professional advisers, if needed for invoicing and tax records.

  • Government or law enforcement agencies, if we are legally required to.

Some of these providers store or process data overseas (for example, in the United States). We only use providers that we reasonably believe protect personal information to a standard comparable to New Zealand's privacy laws.

Cookies

This website uses cookies, which are small files that download to your device when you visit a website. Necessary cookies let Squarespace, our hosting platform, securely serve this website to you. Analytics and performance cookies are also used to view site traffic and activity. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

Fonts

This website may use Google Fonts or Adobe Fonts to display text properly. To do this, these providers may receive your IP address and information about your browser, device and the page you're viewing.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only as long as needed to respond to you and manage any resulting work. We keep Founders List details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Invoice and payment records are kept for 7 years to meet New Zealand tax record-keeping requirements. After that, we delete or anonymise the information.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure. If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as required by law.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy

  • Correct any information that is wrong

  • Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it

To make a request, email us at hello@minicine.nz. If you're not satisfied with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at www.privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date above.
